A Discussion Guide for Instilling Character in Teens

The Marketing of You began as an idea for a book by Lou Gatti after decades of mentoring young adults and teens.  The premise: help American youth realize The American Dream is still alive and possible for them. It's a process for introducing and instilling character and soft skills among future generations of teenagers to enable individual success and secure America's middle class for generations ahead. 

Discussion groups & programs for improving teen outcomes through character development, soft skills


Format:

  • Discussion groups of 6-10 participants
  • 12-hour program typically built in eight 1.5-hour sessions over a 4-8 week period.


Discussion highlights:

  • Living in the Moment - depressed about the past or anxious about the future is a no no
  • Earning Everything - grades, relationships, reputation, respect
  • Failing Well - feeling the failure, setting goals to accomplish

    • Decision Making - feeling and addressing failure
    • Critical Thinking - well informed debating
    • Emotional Intelligence - controlling your own emotions and managing other people's emotions
